Self-help books are an amazing channel for finding nuggets of “betterment” for personal development…

HOWEVER, the truth is that 90% of ANY self-help book is pretty much worthless. The author has a brilliant concept that is then repeated 2000 times too many until you hit the last chapter and the train ride’s over…

What if you could take every self-help book and condense it down into that most interesting 10%….  Throw out the ridiculous repetition and feast on the juiciest parts.  Think that might be helpful?

Leadership communication always needs to be a two-way activity. Leaders, to be blunt, need followers, and a smart leader wants to know what those followers are thinking and doing. Moreover, leaders are in the business of persuasion, and you need to be listening to the people being persuaded or you won’t know how you’re doing.

There’s an even deeper reason that you need to be in the listening business as a leader. I believe that it’s the responsibility of a leader to return the courtesy of your followers by making an equivalent effort to listen as hard to them as they do to you. It’s courteous and it’s right — and it’s necessary in the long run if you’re going to fulfill the leader’s full set of obligations.

Doing and starting a business these days is a challenge itself. The idea phase isn’t really that hard but it’s definitely a turning point in your life certainly when you’re a rookie in the field of business. The idea phase and it’s initial start should inspire you wherever and whenever you are. Inspiration can surface anywhere. For instance I get a lot of inspiration when driving (with obviously looking at the road). A beautiful spot, people pouring gas in their cars, other motorists, the road itself, the weather, the sky, local talks on the radio. There’s simply too much to be inspired by. Remember this; you will learn by doing. Herein feasibility is essential. Mistakes can be made, it makes you even better. Again you will learn by doing.
